1. Kobe: If you're committing adultery in your early 20's, barely a year into your marriage, why even bother jumping the broom?
2. NYC: Post-9/11, how can someone sneak a gun into one of your city government buildings??? Shouldn't y'all be more cautious than just about anyone?
3. Donell (Road Rules South Pacific): How happy will I be if you get your shady, lying, childish arse voted off the show? No one deserves the hook more than you.
4. Former Eleanor Roosevelt High School student Mya: Why'd ya hafta give Carson a lap dance at the end of his MTV roast?? Haven't you seen all the grief brothers and sisters gave Halle for allowing herself to be the Man's little sexual fantasy?
5. Former Eleanor Roosevelt High School student Martin Lawrence: Are you about to get back on track again, now that Bad Boys II is blowin' up??
6. No one in particular: Why was last week's show so dope?

Still recovering from the big Independence Day cookout-movie-marathon-sleepover joint... Unfortunately, I'm still smarting from the revelation that none of my extended family has even a drop of patriotic blood running throught their veins... While I can respect not wanting to be perceived as celebrating all the evil perpetrated over the years in the name of the good ol' US of A, opportunities to catch forty minute displays of isht getting blowed up should generally not be missed... Of course, I wanted to drive back home from NY on no sleep just to see cats demolish the Capital Centre, so maybe I'm a little too driven to see things exploding... Did I mention the Zippo lighter I just bought? Fire... cool.
Before I go renew my loyalty oath, then try to recreate the "Okay, I'm warmed up" scene from the Beyonce & Jay-Z "Crazy in Love" video, let's get to this week's playlist:

A few months back, some misinformed DC radio personality announced on-air that Barry White had died... The jock and his mixer had done a tribute and everything before realizing, the next day, that, although he was ill at the time, he was still with us. So I was a little reluctant to believe upon hearing of his passing yesterday, but sadly, this time it's true. We may never know how many of us owe our conception to a mood set by one of the Maestro's classics, but take a moment to a recognize a playa with game as large as his physique, and acknowledge him for allowing us to appropriate his game to advance our own romantic interests.
Easy, y'all...

Thank you, Stylus, for saying some things...
Apparently, I'm one of the few people in the county who likededed The Hulk movie, but at least it was better than Biker Boyz (a recent bad Blockbuster night experience-- how can you catch that big of a brick with all that talent in the cast?)

Robert Stack, who provided the voice for Autobot City Commander Ultra Magnus in MY FAVORITE FILM EVER, "Transformers: The Movie," passed recently. Of course, he was best known from his role as Elliott Ness on the old-school "Untouchables" TV series and from all those years hosting "Unsolved Mysteries," but the lending of his voice to Autobot City Commander Ultra Magnus in "TF:TM" earned him, as well as Judd Nelson, Scatman Crothers, Leonard Nimoy, Orson Welles, and others, a nearly infinite number of cool points from me for bringing my favorite characters to life in what was my biggest obsession before I became a hip-hop head.
Pour out some energon...
'Til all are one, y'all...

We had a much longer run than I would have expected... Synergy that is. Thanks to all my crazy ass regulars who followed me from Erico's last year to Rendezvous. And big ups to all the random folks that strolled in, decided to stay awhile, and brought their friends (and bought cd's!). The next incarnation of Synergy will have some key changes, including a dance floor (no more records skipping when the parolees get psyced up) and a location with better parking. It'll be a bit less lounge-y and more groovish, especially since we'll be moving to Fridays and a later time slot. Stay tuned.
Before I return you to Bushhead Ed's regular scheduled updates, I gotta say some things:
- DJ Book is still the illest, if YOU want to hear Book spin at a DJ Stylus function, file your plea
here- That Mark Ronson 12-inch is the hottest thing on the streets right now. Why isn't it getting radio burn? I was busy trying not to destroy the Soul Controller underground beat labs every time the MOP/Mos Def jont came on but the flip?!? The Ghostdini/Nate Dogg jont?!!?? Big & official.
- Synergy Sessions Vol. 1 is available in the
store- If I don't finish this damn website (bios, press, g'book & Fly 25 listings soon come) I will wear oversized pinwheel baseball caps and throwback dresses (why do bammas jerseys go past their knees?!?) as punishment
- Go hang out with
Eurok & Orbit until we get Synergy back n' effect
- Stylus
