Wishing The Hevster a peaceful journey - Heavy D tribute download

DJ Book executed a vicious, funky, FLAWLESS mix to send Heavy D off properly. Perhaps he was inspired by the effortless style of a fellow big dude.

We're really proud to be able add our voices to the many fans and loved ones who will miss Hev, but this loss is going to hurt deeply for a long time. We'll just have to focus on celebrating his life. It was a great one.

We're also blessed to have Grap Luva as a longtime friend, peer and good vibe catalyst. His memories of his big cousin Dwight are priceless so enjoy a few more of them as well as some great hip-hop trivia on this broadcast.

DJ Jahsonic reps DC and the SoulCeez at the Red Bull Thre3Style 2011 US Finals

The Soul Controllers are proud to send off one of our own to compete in the US Finals for Red Bull Thre3Style, going down this Thursday, November 10 at Rain nightclub in Las Vegas. This past spring, DJ Jahsonic bested some of our favorite DC DJ's and a few out-of-towners who traveled to DC for that regional to earn a slot in the national final.

Red Bull Thre3Style is an innovative concept that gives highly skilled DJs a platform to battle, perform, gain notoriety and express themselves in a party atmosphere. Unlike other DJ battles that are based on more technical aspects, this is a creative and unique format that seeks to find the DJ that has best perfected the true art of “party rockin’.”

• The top DJs from across the US will battle for supremacy

• Each DJ will perform a 15 minute set that MUST contain at least three different musical genres.

• A panel of music industry judges will select the winners based on track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence and crowd reaction.

The winner of Red Bull Thre3style National Final will earn the opportunity to compete in Vancouver, British Columbia for the Red Bull Thre3Style International Final.
